Indonesia has traditional cultures variously. The various of culture can't see in just one tribe, but it can see in different cities of the tribe. Bandung and Karawang are the cities of Sundanese tribe. But, the people of those cities, surely, has the different cultures.
Firstly is the difference of accent. When two people of Karawang are talking, they use the high voice. So, when the people of Bandung see how the people of Karawang are talking, they will say "Hey, don't be quarreling!" In other side, when the people of Karawang see how the people of Bandung are quarreling, they will say "They are must be the best friend!" It because, Bandung people has the low accent in their voice.
Some people said that the different of accents is caused by the weather of the cities. Bandung has the chilly weather. So, the people are also chill as well as the weather. Meanwhile, Karawang has the heat weather. So, the people are also heat as well as the weather. Therefore, the weather is one of causes which make the characteristic of people's accents.
It's my grateful to live around Sundanese tribe. The people are friendly enough. Whether they are Karawang or Bandung people, they are friendly too, as far as I meet them. But, don't be dare to make the Sundanese people mad, if you don't want to be like a politician, Arteria Dahlan.
In other side, it's also my grateful to live in Purwakarta. Purwakarta is located in the middle of Bandung and Karawang. Purwakarta is located in the middle of the chilly people and the heat people. Therefore, Purwakarta citizens doesn't look like chilly people, like Bandung, nor like heat people, the Karawang people.
Besides the accent thing, there is an interesting in other language feature case: the homophone. To ask the permission, Sundanese use the word "punteun". When they give the permission, they use "mangga". In other side, if "mangga" is used in Indonesia language, the meaning is not to give permission. It's become the name of a fruit, in English is "mango". When you say "mangga" in giving the permission to the Indonesian who doesn't know about Sundanese, you will get the answer such as "I don't want mango!"
The other homophone case is a case between the Sundanese and Javanese. When Sundanese say "geudang", it's mean a fruit called by "papaya". But, you will see that in Javanese, "geudang" means "banana". Just imagine that a Sundanese just try to buy a "geudang" to a Javanese vegetables seller. The seller will understand what the "geudang" mean, he/she will give the Sundanese a kilo of bananas, and the Sundanese will say "Are you joking me?!"
In the case of appetite, The tongue of Sundanese like in sweet taste. When the Sundanese make a sauce, the sweet taste is included. The Padang people will confused by the Sundanese's sauce, because they make sauce bit bitter. It means that the sauce is described the tongue in each of the Indonesian tribe. Even though, Sundanese is also like to visit the Padang's restaurant.
I don't know why so many Padang's restaurant in my regency, Purwakarta, which included as the Sundanese tribe. I think it's the one way how they spread the bitter sauce. They want dominating their sauce. But, please, it's just my joke.
Besides the languages and food cases, Sundanese also has a political case in Indonesia. When you see the all of Indonesian presidents, there is no a Sundanese who become a president. Maybe, Indonesian afraid if a Sundanese become a president. They afraid that if a Sundanese nominate him/herself to be a president of Indonesia, they will make some campaigns like: "Mangga (in Sundanese language) choose me to be your leader!" It's make the non-Sundanese Indonesian think "No way! Mango choose him/her to be a president!" Or the campaign sounds like "Make the sauces sweet again!" If the Padang people see that campaign, absolutely, they will not choose him/her. Or, the campaign sounds "If I be an Indonesian president, I will make the 'geudang' to be a 'papaya'!" Of course, the Javanese will not choose the candidate.
However, those things are the uniqueness of Indonesia, especially the Sundanese. Those things make me live in Indonesia proudly. They make me a grateful to be a Sundanese. Even I a Sundanese, don't say that I don't like the Padang's restaurant!
