One Piece: The Telling Style of Oda-sensei

One Piece is a satire anime that can change this world.

I have been watching the anime of One Piece since I was in college. The television was delivering One Piece when I was child, but when I was in college, I got the full episodes from my friend. So I asked him and my laptop was fulled by One Piece episodes.

At that time, when I was in college, I decided to watch One Piece from the beginning, from the Romance Dawn arc. Some of friends said that is the form of wasting time. But, I thought it is the way of the cruise. I've never regretted to watch One Piece. It's a masterpiece of Oda-sensei.

Now, One Piece has 1073 episodes, when the main character Monkey D. Luffy shows his Gear Fifth to fight one of Yonkou (Four Emperors of Sea), Kaido. It jazzs up the world. I am not joking. It's really jazzing up facethe world! Some fans use Gear Fifth Luffy's  to their social media profile picture. But I am not doing that. For me, to see and hear the "drums of liberation" is satisfying enough.

Here are the power of Oda-sensei. He can evoke people's imagination. The fictional energies of people is called. He is creating the new dimention in this world and it's called by One Piece dimention. One Piece has its own map, islands, even government. With those, One Piece is not just about the main character, but it's about world and life.

My point of view says that One Piece is a satire anime that can change this world. It is including: politics, humanity, liberty, history, nature, and so on. Those issues was/is the part of this earth. War, slavery, corruption, human trading, racism, colonialism, feminism, are noted as the history's impression. One Piece describes those things into its world and I think Oda-sensei is trying to break them.

The telling style of Oda-sensei is "Joker" style. It's because Joker have said that "Why you so serious?" Yeah, Oda-sensei has the humor sense. He makes everything not to be so serious. For instance when Oda-sensei describes the fighting of Kaido versus Monkey D. Luffy as well as the fighting of Tom versus Jerry in Tom & Jerry cartoon. The character of Kaido is the most feared, but in the end he defeated by hilarious way.

In other side, Oda-sensei often does the funny things to become the sad thing. For the instance, when the character of Corazon gave his bad (funny) smile to Trafalgar D. Water Law. Surely, the tears of viewers will be shed. It happened because that smile is the last one. Corazon gave his last smile to Trafalgar, who in that time is still a child. After giving the last smile, Corazon is killed by his own brother, Doflamingo. It was one of the sad scene I have seen in One Piece.

The other telling style of Oda-sensei is hyperbole. He pushes us to amaze with the little things. He can change a little thing to become an epic memorable scene. The little things for me are such as eat, sleep, smile, cry, walk, etc. Oda-sensei hyperbolizing those little things. The scenes where the Mugiwara crews are gathering and walking together always be the most epic scene.

But there is one thing which makes me to give dislike about One Piece. It is "the betrayal". I don't know why Oda-sensei is showing the betrayal in his masterpiece. I know that One Piece is all about pirates world, which is full of betrayal, but Oda-sensei is always showing the trust too. When the character of Kanjuro is revealed as the betrayer, I wonder why. Since in Dressrosa arc., Kanjuro was helping Monkey D. Luffy and the crew to defeat Doflamingo. With his hilarious characteristic, I gave my trust to Kanjuro. But in Wano arc., Oda-sensei is breaking my trust. If in the next time Oda-sensei makes one of the Mugiwara crew to become the betrayer, Roronoa Zoro for instance, I will say that One Piece is a terrible anime and it's an unrecommended story to watch/read.

I don't know what next will happened in One Piece. It's just God and Oda-sensei who knows. I will not theorizing. But until now, One Piece is still recommended anime to watch/read. Like before I said that One Piece is about the cruise. It's a masterpiece. My gratitude is for Oda-sensei who is giving me the great story. With One Piece, I feel glad to live.
